Czech support for the integration of Republic of Macedonia into the EU and NATO, yesterday evening was confirmed by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka on the meeting with Macedonian President Gjorgje Ivanov in Prague.
President Ivanov expressed gratitude for the support and asked the Czech Republic to affect on the respect of the international undertaken commitments, such as the Interim Agreement and the ICJ ruling. In the context of European integration Ivanov asked for no double standards and the principle of parallel movement processes to be applied in the Macedonian case, by allowing the date to start accession negotiations with the EU. On Sobotka’s interest, Macedonian President introduced the Czech Prime Minister with condition in which the UN process is towards overcoming of the name issue.
At the meeting were discussed the possibilities for boosting economic cooperation, primarily to strengthen cooperation in tourism and in this line the return of the air line Prague – Skopje.
Sobotka expressed interest for investment opportunities and business climate in the Republic of Macedonia.
The meeting, which is attended by the Minister for Foreign Investment Bill Pavleski, the Czech Prime Minister was informed about the legislation reforms and incentives for investment in Macedonia.
Macedonian President George Ivanov within the visit to Prague yesterday met with his host President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman.
