The development of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina as well as the Brussels Treaty affected the improving of relations between Serbia and Macedonia, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Poposki said in a statement to Serbian “Politika”.
He stated that the two open issues between Serbia and Macedonia – the relationship between SOC and MOC, and the different views about Kosovo, “have only partially changed”.
Poposki noted that SOC still has difficulties to recognize the MPC, although, as he says, probably everybody would be happier if the relations between them are canonically recognized.
- I personally do not think that the two countries have to deal with spiritual topics, Minister Poposki explains.
It is often interpreted as part of a “general denial of Macedonian identity, and in fact it should be only a matter of the church”.
