Spectacular growth of TIRZ exports worth a quarter billion

Exports of technological industrial development zones in the first quarter of 2014 is worth a quarter billion, according to the Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones data.

TIRZ exports grew by fantastic 95 percent compared with last year. Last year in the first quarter TIRZ exports was € 126 million. This means that more than a third of Macedonia’s exports comes from foreign investment in the technological industrial zones.

TIRZ export high growth of  is a result of the entry of Johnson Matthey in the second stage of production, Van Hall production, the increase in production of Kemet Electronics and commencement of active production of Johnson Controls in Stip.

- Currently we are in final negotiations with several companies interested in investment in the technological  industrial zones or have already made ​​a decision, but it is not official. It’s about companies from the U.S., Germany and Italy, who are interested to invest in Skopje as well as several other zones with no foreign investment yet, director of the TIRZ, Viktor Mizo said.

Johnson Controls, Johnson Matthey, Van Hall, Teknohoze, Kemet and Protek Group currently operate in the technological industrial zones. The zones employ 2,700 people and the total investment so far is estimated at € 240 million.
