Laws for administrative officers and employees in the public sector are aimed at creating administration that is more efficient. They will not perform balancing of public sector wages and unions will be actively involved in setting wages.

This was stated at a joint press conference at the Ministry of Information Society and Public Administration and the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia.

- These laws are not balancing wages. They form catalog of jobs. This may be the deception of the public, who speculate that there will be wage balancing. In the catalog of jobs are standardized jobs in the public sector and it will be the foundation for all future job creating in any institution which will be covered by the legislation, explained the Minister of Information Society and Administration Ivo Ivanovski.

With the two laws, which are created after the example of European countries, the state is expected to get efficient administration that will serve the citizens.

- We hope that after their entry into force within one year, the public administration will be more efficient and faster in providing services to citizens. We expect that both laws will further protect the rights of employees in the administration. At any moment we will know what is the number of employees in administration and we will get objective way to reward those who work and how to sanction those who do not work and to stimulate efficiently to fulfill their obligation, said Ivanovski.

The Union is satisfied that both laws, as assessed, regulated significant issues for public sector wages and the right to compensation for salary.

- We have proposed remarks that are associated with assessment procedure and punishment. The negotiations with MISPA on these notes will continue to determine draft laws which will be operational, said the President of UTUM, Zhivko Mitrevski.

Negotiations between the government and the Union will continue in order to improve the draft legal texts.
