Macedonian Railways Infrastructure today signed an agreement with representatives of the German company “Vibe”, which is the construction contractor for the reconstruction of the railway section Kumanovo – Beljakovce of Corridor 8.
Under the agreement, the start of construction is scheduled in March next year, and the deadline for completion is 30 months i.e. the third quarter of 2016.
The representative of the German company said that the project will fully be implemented as soon as possible.
-We want the materials to be procured from Macedonia, this way the received funding from the EBRD for the reconstruction of this section will be left in the country, said the representative of “Vibe”.
The section length is 31 km, with all facilities.
The Minister of Transport and Communications Mile Janakieski, said that the promise is realized by today’s signing.
- The reconstruction of the section Kumanovo – Beljakovce includes three terminal buildings, four stops, three bridges, tunnel tube, eight underpasses and six overpasses. We also work on the documentation for the construction of the second section of the Beljakovce – Palanka, and on the completion of the railway section of Corridor 8 section from Kriva Palanka to border crossing Deve Bair, Janakieski said.
The value of this project is around EUR 39 million.
