The twenty-day campaign for the presidential elections scheduled for 13 April starts today. Presidential candidates are the incumbent Gjorgje Ivanov – VMRO – DPMNE, Stevo Pendarovski – SDSM, Zoran Popovski – GROM and Ilijaz Halimi – DPA.

VMRO – DPMNE presidential campaign kicks off in Ohrid, where they regularly start with their election activities. During the campaign for the presidential elections, the party will hold meetings and small rallies with the citizens of the country. Ivanov yesterday in Skopje presented his program for the upcoming elections.

SDSM today will promote the presidential candidate Stevo Pendarovski at a Convention in the Universal Hall in Skopje. The opposition says that this time the campaign will be different and they will focus more on meetings with citizens, but that there will be rallies as well. They are represented on the internet, and also use the social networks.

GROM and the candidate Zoran Popovski will begin their campaign in Leptokarija in Karposh Municipality in Skopje, where they will hold a central rally in the evening. The party, as they say, will only run a positive campaign without insults and hate speeches. Popovski will have Facebook fan pages, Twitter profiles etc.

DPA also announced another type of campaign, with more meetings with citizens and no mass rallies. Their candidate Iljaz Halimi along with his party colleagues tonight will present their platform at a rally in Skopje Chair.

The first round of the fifth presidential election will be held on April 13 and the second round of elections on 27 April, when the early parliamentary elections are scheduled.
