Residents of rural areas will no longer have to travel several kilometers to get to a pharmacy.
The new project of the Ministry of Health “Pharmacy Stations” will enhance pharmaceutical network throughout Macedonia.
119,699 residents of towns with 1,000 to 3,500 people will have a direct benefit of the Pharmacy stations.
The project will cover 42 municipalities and 73 villages.
Each chain of pharmacies, which has opened a larger number of pharmacies in a municipality, will have to open one in the rural areas.
Minister of Health Nikola Todorov expects pharmacies to embrace this project because the pharmacies in rural areas will be seriously cheaper to open due to expenses covered by the Health Insurance Fund.
Also he emphasized is that there is a huge benefit from two other projects, i.e. “Rural Doctor” with benefit to 360,000 citizens, and the “Moving pharmacies” to 260,000 citizens.
