MEPSO and ELEM with the full support from the Government are in the process of formation of the electricity market as organized market to form transparent price signals. In that process, is planned space for foreign partner who has experience in the formation and management of electricity markets.
This was highlighted by the general director of AD MEPSO Sinisha Spasov in the interview for Reuters that later would be published in full.
- The price signals would be corrector and indicator for all economic entities in the country and the region because as all surrounding countries are facing the challenge for establishing markets for electricity. The Stock market requires fulfilling many technical, legal, and systemic pre-conditions for successful function. The goal is to be liquid, or to have enough electricity trading to be self-sustaining project, emphasizes Spasov.
He points out that the stock market will use Slovenian experiences, as in Slovenia function electricity stock market since 2001.
He evaluated that Macedonian electrical transmission system operator is ready for the upcoming winter season and that can withstand the increased load if temperatures are extremely low.
- Competent and professional staff of MEPSO have taken all the necessary measures and conducted all regular activities for the preparation of transmission network before starting the heating season in the country, when are expected increased burden on the transmission network. In accordance with the annual work plan are performed with all planned audits of equipment at the transformer stations and transmission lines in the network of MEPSO, points Spasov.
