The birth rate on the rise: Last year 8000 women used maternity leave

More babies, more money for the payment of maternity leave.

According to sources of zdravstvo24, last year the Health Insurance Fund has allocated one billion and 533 million MKD for payment of maternity leave which is the largest amount ever.
The money was allocated to 8200 insured woman and compared with 2012 and 2011 is evident increase in the number of mothers and the amount of money that the Fund allocates.
In 2012 there were 7600 cases and were allocated 1,375,225,433 MKD whereas in 2011 there were 7460 cases and the Fund paid 1,433,382,640 MKD. For the competent institution the upward trend of maternity leave has positive effect because it shows that the growing birth rate in the country.
On the other hand, zdravstvo24 comment that the effective government measures for increasing offspring among which is the campaign for third child gave fruit. Unlike the past, this year larger number of women in high and responsible positions took maternity leave. Through the government’s measures in 2013 for the maternity leave are not required 2 but 4 average salaries that is suitable for these women. In the past, they were discriminated because payment was only two monthly salaries.
Another advantage of maternity leave is no delay in the payment by the Fund. At the end of the month is done the payment for the previous month. A few years ago, women had to wait up to 6 months to receive the first payment. According to the Fund, from 2007 to 2010, total funds disbursed for maternity leave were increased by 111 percent, writes the portal.
That the trend is towards increasing positive birth rate show data from the State Statistical Office, according to which in 2012 there were 23,752 births compared with 2011 is more for 798 or growth of 3.5 %. The trend follows the Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics, which ended 2013 with 6000 newborns.
